It\u2019s a fantastic opportunity for a student willing to work between theory and experiments, with exciting potential in soft-robotics in the top Engineering school in the UK.<br \/>\n*Closing date: 7th October 2019*<br \/>\nInterviews: 9th October 2019<br \/>\n*PhD project: * *Mathematical and Bio-SoftRobotic modelling of microbes: theory and experiments*<br \/>\nThis PhD aims to revolutionise \u201cSoftRobotics\u201d by constructively combining engineering mathematics, cellular biology and active soft-matter to create the first generation of macroscopic robotic \u201ccells&#8221; that are able to self-adapt and perform complex tasks unsupervised, very much like cells in our body. This truly interdisciplinary project will merge experimentation, mathematical modelling and simulation, physics, engineering, robotics and biology.<br \/>\n*Details:* Covers tuition fees, tax-free stipend of \u00a314,777 per year plus a travel\/consumables budget<br \/>\n*Duration:* 3.5 years with *January start*<br \/>\n*Eligibility:* First Class or Upper Second Class Honours degree.
