PhD position in the physics department of Ecole normale supérieure (Paris), Centre national de la recherche scientifique.
Fixed term for 36 months, starting date 1 October 2019.
We are looking for a PhD candidate who will work cross-road between physics, immunology, computer science and applied mathematics. The project aims at understanding quantitatively how the immune system avoids auto-immunity by analysing high-throughput sequencing data of immune repertoire, using analysis methods inspired by statistical mechanics. It will involve data analysis and machine-learning techniques as well as physics modeling.
Research will be conducted at the Ecole normale supérieure (part of PSL University), the leading academic and research institution in France. It is located in the heart of the Latin quarter, among a high density of top research institutions. Your appointment will be with the Centre national de la recherche scientifique, which coordinates public research in France.
The candidate should have, at the start of the PhD, a Master’s degree (M2) in physics, computer science, mathematics, or equivalent. Strong skills in statistical mechanics or stochastic modeling, as well as in programming (either C, C++, Matlab, or Python) and in analytical calculations are required.
