Heterogeneously Charged Colloids for Materials Design / Bianchi / Vienna
PhD position is available at the Technical University of Vienna starting in early Spring 2019.
The position is supported by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) within a START project titled “Heterogeneously Charged Colloids for Materials Design” (Y1163) (sites.google.com/view/emanuelabianchi/home). The project is meant to target — using state-of-the-art computational techniques and appropriately developed theoretical frameworks — the design, the assembly and the responsiveness of colloids engineered with differently charged surface regions with the ultimate goal of designing responsive functionalized materials. Theoretical and numerical investigations are planned to proceed in parallel with experiments carried out by Dr. van Oostrum (Boku, Vienna) and Prof. Ravaine (CRPP, Bordeaux).
Applicants should have a master degree in Physics, Chemical Engineering, Physical Chemistry or related subjects and be fluent in spoken and written English. Proven experience in numerical simulations and/or modelling is highly desirable. The salary is fixed by Austrian rules.
