Mathieu Génois (2010) – Assistant professor
After the PCS master, I did my PhD thesis at the “Matière et Systèmes Complexes” (MSC) laboratory of the Paris Diderot university, under the supervision of Dr. Guillaume Grégoire and Dr. Sylvain Courrech du Pont. I studied barkhan dune fields and I showed that the interactions between the dunes were responsible for the spatial structuration of the fields. I found a phase transition in this strongly out-of-equilibrium system in which there are no conserved quantities. After my PhD I joined the group of Dr. Alain Barrat for a postdoc at the CPT of Marseille. I studied there the face-to-face interactions between people in order to model the propagation of respiratory sicknesses of the flu type. Finally, after a postdoc at GESIS, Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences, Cologne, Germany, in the Computational Social Science Department of Markus Strohmaier, I obtained an assistant professor position at Aix-Marseille University.
